This thing is BRIGHT! Well, for about two weeks, then the lights dim as it DEMANDS a new set of batteries. The amber side LEDs really help with visibility, and you know that big center LED just crushes it all night long out on the road.
The mounting bracket is a little finicky, but once it's set, it feels solid and secure.
The top button is crazy hard to press if you're wearing gloves, but it's nice knowing it won't turn on when it's jangling around in your bag. Pros: BRIGHT! Cons: Eats batteries
Hard to press the button Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: May 03, 2013 Reviewed by: Jerry, PDX Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
The best of the non-rechargeable taillights The Mars 4.0 is awesomely bright, and has good side visibility from a pair of bright amber LEDs. It also eats AAAs for breakfast - a new pair and it is intense, a week or so later, and it is still ok, but not nearly as awe-inspiring. The button is hopeless with gloves on. I just graduated to a Vis180, partly as it's even brighter, but mainly because I wanted usb recharging. Pros: really bright rear red LED
good blink pattern
good side visibility Cons: needs to be fed fresh new batteries often
doesn't perform that well on rechargeables
button is hard to press, esp. with gloves on Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: December 27, 2012 Reviewed by: Toby, Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
2 light options, continuous on and blink.
Flexible attachment options. Clip to clothes/bags, seatpost or to fender/racks.
Solid construction, will def buy again. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 14, 2011 Reviewed by: Ernest C. Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Nice light So far a nice light, quite bright from directly behind, dims dramatically when viewed from an angle. Pros: Nice mounting hardware if it fits. Small, light. Cons: The rack mount wouldn't fit my rack. The button is tiny and tough to operate. Mars 4.0 Great product, tested next to Light and Motion Vis180 and is just as bright during the day and night.
1/4 the price of an amazing product, better in my opinion since I have rechargable AAA's! Pros: Bright
