Chris King ISO Disc Rear Hub
Chris King hubs are the most sought after hubs on the market today, not only are they 100% made in good ole Portland Oregon! but they are a perfect blend of art and engineering into a functional long lasting hub. With the legendary King sealed bearings you know these hubs will roll smooth for years and they are 100% serviceable unlike other hubs made overseas. All of Chris Kings rear hubs utilize the patented RingDrive™ engagement mechanism. RingDrive™ uses 72 engagement teeth on each drive ring. That means the hub engages over 3 times quicker than the standard 24 tooth pawl-type freehub. Trying to get started again in the middle of a steep uphill section? Going for the surprise jump to drop your buddies? This unique design offers instant and positive engagement that's capable of handling a torque load of over 800ft/lbs, or over three times more than most other high end hubs we've tested. It is the heart of King hub and all the rest is built around it.

As with all Chris King Products, this is amazing! Pros: 72 pts of engagement, durability, sound! Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: May 06, 2013 Reviewed by: Robert N., Michigan Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Love this hubs, beautifully made. long lasting, and have i said anything about the engagement of the these hubs? no matter how long you coast, they kick in the second you pedal. had these hubs for three years, and have lived through three frames. Still have not had to do any work on these either. Pros: durable
beautifully made
made in USA
Cons: expensive, but nice things usually are. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 11, 2012 Reviewed by: joseph , Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
After blowing out a cheaper hub, I went Chris King. The engagement is awesome. When you pedal, you go forward, just as it should be.
I read a lot of reviews that say this hub is noisy and so I had my reservations. But mine turned out pretty quiet. My buddies say they can't hear it unless they are right up behind me. The sound is unique and frankly I like it.
I haven't serviced mine but i have taken it apart right out of the box and its truly a sweet piece of engineering. I'm 200+ lbs so I needed something that would last. This is it. CK rear ISO disc This Hub is really fantastic, albeit expensive. Good for the image conscious who wants domestically produced and the best.

Awesom hub It's a Chris King, not much more you can say.
I was expecting more noise with all the hype about the sound. It's actually much quieter than the Stan's 3.30 hub it replaced. Pros: High poe. User servicable.

Love this hub I have this hub set and love them. I just put the 142 adaptor in for the new bike i am getting. whenever i have had the hub apart i am shocked by how clean it stays inside, the grease was still white after a season of riding on the shore, no other hub can say that! it also has made my low speed technical riding so much better since the engagement is so quick. I hope to have this hub for a very long time. Pros: Amazing quality, amazing customer support engagement is unreal. Cons: I would say cost, but it is worth it! Very durable and lightweight. Amazing customer service at Chris King. Rebuild-able. Simple to service. Buzz sound not as loud as I though it would be. Have held up to daily commuting in all weather conditions with no issues. Chris King ISO Rear Hub The 72 pt engagement does make a loT of difference when climbing or through tech section.
Not the lightest rear hub on the market but the solid build of the hub make it up
it's stated that the hub can easily be converted to a through axle .
Hub gave a nice buzzing sound but that might not appeal to some Pros: Tough and robust hub.
5 year warranty Cons: More expensive than most hubs on the market

Best hubs, no excpetions. Flawless.
A sinch to service & clean.
My ISO hubs have been raced and ridden on now for 5+ years and they are still as good as new.

Best hub on the market The price can be a downside but well worth saving for. This hub simply out performsn it's competition. Don't skimp and buy a lessor hub, save a little and wait to purchase the king hub. With this hub you get what you pay for! most excellent! Pros: Smooth bearings
easy to maintain

The instant engagement makes a world of difference when climbing and there's nothing like the satisfaction of the classic King hub buzzsaw noise letting the rider ahead of you know they're slow when you're freewheeling.
The hub tension adjustment on ISO rear hubs is a pain because the disc rotor mounting bolts are in the way. I found myself taking several try to get the tension right, eventually having to take the rotor off to set it properly. That said the new hub adjustments are way better than the old design.
Always check bearing adjustment on new King hubss. I don't think they watch this very closely out of the factory and wheel builders never check for changes after the spokes are tensioned. Every King hub I've had has issues with this and it's a quick way to ruin a hub. I've never had to readjust once I set it the first time though.
Although it's nice to know that the hub can easily be converted to a through axle in the future the design of the conventional dropout end caps seems a little less rigid than their old designs. Pros: Instant engagement, buzz saw sound, looks good Cons: Price, bearing tension quality control Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 17, 2010 Reviewed by: Ian L., California Was this review Helpful? Great rear hub. Engagement is fantastic and they run very smooth. These are bomb proof and I wouldn't hesitate to run them in any conditions. I have more to say about the rear hub than I do the front. I never thought the added engagmen would be a big deal but it clearly helps me clean technical sections much better than the mavic hubs I have used for years.
The break in period is a bit of a drag but the wheels spin silky smooth. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 13, 2010 Reviewed by: Keith H., Massachusetts Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Once you go King, you'll never go back These are quite simply the funnest hubs to ride. Instant engagement make technical uphills a breeze. And smooth and fast bearings make the descent quick and... er noisy.
Nothing beats the distinctive sound of the bee from the ring drive. Pros: Lifetime purchase! And available in Orange! Cons: You need to save up for these and buy them when you are ready. Prettiest thing on my bike A few years ago I had enough money on hand to kit out my bike in all new gear. of all of the things I had comming my way this was the one I was most excited about. My hub is the green one and I still love seeing it out in the garage when I walk through to take the trash out. The build construction is immaculate and the practices King follow is in his factory are commendable to say the least. The end cap does however have a tendency to come loose after a couple of months of very rough downhilling. Which means I have to remove the wheel and tighten it with a pair of 5mm allen wrenches. Pros: Build quality
Environmental ethic in build process
color
build quality Cons: End cap comes loose occassionally

Chris King ISO rear hub CK don't have an impeccable quality reputation for no reason! They are simply BETTER than DT Swiss, with higher quality and less defects (Don't get me wrong.. DT are good, just not this good). Different configurations, conversions, colours, and spares are all available. Immediate take up, low friction, durable, long lasting, and serviceable. The bling doesn't hurt either! Only a few grams heavier than 240s really, but.. surprisingly they're LESS expensive than DT hubs!! I suspect the CK squeal though, is an acquired taste. Pricey product, but a cut above most cheap asian sourced hubs. If I had more money, I'd own more of them. Buy them, keep them, enjoy them. A+ Pros: Quality, Quality, Quality Cons: Click.. click.. whir.. Squeal!
