Not bad at all. I needed a long cable for a big dummy build and these worked perfectly. Pros: Its Jagwire, always had good luck with them. Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 07, 2013 Reviewed by: brandon o., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
I only buy these cables. I think the coating makes a huge difference in keeping everything smooth. The coating rubs off at the points where housing ends (cable stops on the frame) but this doesn't seem to be a problem. Works fine. Was relatively easy to install. Cables are always a pain. Pros: More durable than uncoated. Can replace cable w/o replacing the whole housing if housing isn't totally shot (mbe some experts will tell me this is bad practice...) Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: December 21, 2012 Reviewed by: Michael M. Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Love the Teflon I have gone to using these cables exclusively. I tend to try to run full housing whenever possible and have never had any problems using these.
I use them on my trail bike, DH, and road bikes. I once had a wrench at the LBS tell me they didn't like them as they "gum up" when running through the BB front der. plastic cable gudes on road frames but I have yet to see this issue during my use.
Two of my three bikes are black. These cables are totally unnoticeable. Stealth. Pros: smooth shifting, black. Cons: None. Some of the teflon may rub off down at the rear der area during installation but it is of no use in that area anyway. Better than non-coated I always change out my cables annually, but this year I tried the Teflon coating. Not night and day, but better than non coated for ease of shifting. Pros: Better shifting than standard stainless. Cons: expensive, for what it is Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 08, 2012 Reviewed by: ARIC S., Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
great cable I just rewired my shifters using the Ripcord for the second time. I had 4,000 miles on the cables and they were still in good condition with very little of the teflon coating wore off. I previously used Dura-ace wires and would get about 2,000 miles before replacing. I switched to Ripcord due to a Dura-ace rear shifter cable failure which destroyed the 7800 shifter. Pros: Slick with little to no compression, and they are pre-stretched. Cons: None after 4,000 on first set and 2,000 on current set. Pretty slick, so no oil is needed. The teflon rubs off the areas where there is a lot of friction, but they can be oiled in the future. Seems like a durable cable. Going bulk housing from now on I have to use continuous housing on my 5 Spot so I got the bulk roll of Shimano 4mm housing from Universal Cycles and these cables. Killer setup, and inexpensive to boot.
Yes, the teflon coating is definitely worth the added price.
A lot less housing is thrown away too.
This is definitely what I'll be doing from now on. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: February 20, 2012 Reviewed by: Joshua T., Virginia Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate

LIke it. Good cable. if you buy the "combo" pack. this is way cheaper, like ~5 bucks out of the whole. kinda stupid it's like double here. Great cables Bought a set of these Jagwire cables the other day as a replacemt for my really old ones. Definitely not regretting it. The shifting feels smoother than ever and I know with the Teflon coat these boys will last a good amount of time which means less $$$ from my wallet. Really satisfied with Jagwire in general and will be sure to continue buying them.
