Descent amount of adjustability. They've held up for almost a year with no issues, and they're affordable.

Nice add on for bar end shifters

I use these for quick tweaks on my Dura-ace bar end rear shifter. You can put them somewhere convenient and out of the way when routing cable. The knurled part is grippy and adjustments can be made feel only while riding.

Pros: Low profile, easy to adjust.

Cons: Adds an entry point for moisture and grime.

Not recommended for brakes but I've had no problem with them yet. I use them on my cx bike with canti brakes so I can make it easier getting the wheel on and off.

The housing hole is a hair smaller than brake furrel. I used a tapered furrel...brake housing size down to derailleur size. Works great

I did read they do not hold in place well while not under tension. So no idea for derailleur, but for brakes...no problem.

Pros: Makes for easy adjustments

Cons: none

Low profile, works well

I installed these on my CX bike because my cantilevers have no other adjusters. These are low profile and work well.

Pros: Low profile
Ergonomic

Cons: If were a little shorter that would help with installation on the front brake

Inline Cable Adjusters

These are a great idea, but don't work quiet as well as I wanted. Can be tough to make adjustments when cable is under tension

Pros: Sleek and don't stand out.

Cons: Hard to grip and turn while cable is under tension.

Good Inline Adjusters for New Bike Build

I purchased these for a new bike build. I'm running campy ergo brifters on a monster cross bike and these are being used to adjust the shifter tension. They work great and allow me to trim the adjustment while on the bike. I looked at quite a few of these adjusters and I like these the best.

Pros: Work well, good price, nice part for a custom build

Cons: none

These work fine if you don't have housing stops built in to your frame, or if you don't like where yours are located. You can put this in the derailleur housing line wherever you wish. They are not recommended for brake cables though.

If you're stuck with no other way to install an adjuster in a run of cable, these will certainly do the trick, but they're my least favorite solution because: 1) they'll sometimes "slip" when there isn't enough cable tension (i.e. both ends just rotate around the cable ferrules), 2) I find them hard to adjust while on the bike, and 3) I think they look clunky. Given the option, I'd rather use something like the Jagwire Rocket inline adjuster, which is designed for the derailleur cables on STI road levers, but works equally well for brake adjustments when installed on the cantilever hangers of a cyclocross frame (for example).

These newer generation inline adjusters are much lighter than the older ones of just a couple years ago; the rubber coating will help prevent corrosion. Be sure to give the innards a bit of grease before installing.

Perfect for SRAM setups

If you have a frame that lacks headtube barrel adjusters, these are just the ticket. With some careful cabling these can be positioned just in front of the headtube on SRAM setups, offering an unobtrustive and aesthetically clean way to add barrel adjusters. The function of these is about as good as any inline adjusters I've used, that is to say not as good as brazed-on adjusters but a useful addition none the less. I've added them to all my bikes.

Pros: Small, unobtrusive, and they work. Perfect for SRAM and other under-tape cable jobs.

Cons: The rubber finished will rub off if they contact your brake cables, so position them carefully. Like all inline adjusters these rely in friction to hold the cable, so they don't work nearly as well as a ratcheting adjuster built into a cable stop on the frame.

Great replacement adjusters...

Bought these when overhauling my Surly CrossCheck. I have always had great success with Jagwire products. These are light, slim for an unobtrusive look on the bike, and the knurled adjuster surface is very grippy.

Pros: Light, Slim, functional

Cons: None that I can think of. Great replacements.
