Make sure you have cone wrenches and the big allan and count your threads

If you have a Shimano hub, this is what you have to buy. I like to climb granny-32T tech climbs and rachet to go off small jumps, etc. and so I like to think I am at least somewhat hard on equipment. I built up a rear wheel with Shimano M756 hub last summer. I got one year out of the freehub. I then went thru 2 replacements within about 6hr of riding. So not good. Maybe something is up with the hub (I am just going to buy a King and hopefully be done with it) but I cant say I was happy and lost a fair bit of riding time.

Pros: well, it's what you have to buy if you have the matching Shimano hub

Cons: I experienced really poor durability.

Good hub

Had an original hub from 07 on my Kona Dawg that was not engaging. Very frustrating on climbs! After installation I wondered why I didn't replace this long ago. Bike is a joy to ride again.

Pros: Worked well and still does out of the box.

Cons: Cannot service these as they are sealed.

This is a comment on Shimano more than the freehub. It is nice that they still make parts for older hubs. The one I bought was for an early 90's hub, it fits and works. The hub still works after nearly 20 years!

Pros: Parts available for older model hubs.
