Long drop cable hanger

With a low stem position on the cx bike i needed the cable hanger to be a little lower. This put it in the perfect place an is no less stiff.

Pros: Perfect position for the cable

Cons: Camp acts like a steerer spacer and puts the stem higher than i want.

best option for cantis

This is the long drop, I used t on my crosscheck, it clears my king headset and really just blends in to the bike. i have very little brake chatter too

Pros: simple, easy to install

Cons: none

Works with a spacer

Like the other reviewers, I had to put a spacer underneath this with a King headset. It doesn't need much of a spacer, but it needs one none the less. Other than that, it does what it's supposed to. Not much to get wrong with a block of metal and a bolt. It does give you some extra room to route the cable.

Pros: Cheap, works

Cons: Needs a spacer

Simple and effective

When you need a little more drop on you canti brake set ups, this does the trick nicely. Be aware that on some headsets (Cane Creak S-3 for example) you will need to run at least a 5 mm spacer under it to allow proper clearance.

Pros: Keeps headset tight when handlebars are loosened

Cons: Must use spacer underneath

I had to use a 10 mm spacer to clear the headset. Fits fork tube well and stays tight.

Pros: cheap

Cons: I needed at least a 10mm spacer to fit my application

I wish that I'd bought the version with the barrel adjuster, but that's my fault. It's perfect for my canti's.

Not so Great

If you're buying a long drop hanger for its long drop, don't get this one. There was zero clearance or less between this hanger and my headset (FSA Orbit) without a spacer underneath. The Interloc *does* reach far enough over that you can slam all the way down.

More clearance

I installed this on my Cannondale Optimo 3 cyclocross bike. It provides a little more room for the front brake cable loop under the handlebar and stem. The smoother loop, combined with the shorter distance between this and the straddle cable hanger, did improve the brake feel.

Pros: More clearance, smoother cable loops, improved braking.

Cons: None.

Need a little more room under your stem for brake housing? The Tektro Long Drop cable hanger allowed me to flip my stem over for winter training on the 'cross bike without being quite so upright. It seems to be holding up well but does need a spacer underneath it to clear the King headsets. I put a 5 mm spacer underneath, but you could probably get away with a 2 or 3 mm. Other than that it does what you'd expect.

Cons: Needs to be spaced up to clear King headsets.
