Chris King Single Speed ISO Disc Rear Hub
> Hubs & Parts
Chris King hubs are the most sought after hubs on the market today, not only are they 100% made in good ole Portland Oregon! but they are a perfect blend of art and engineering into a functional long lasting hub. With the legendary King sealed bearings you know these hubs will roll smooth for years and they are 100% serviceable unlike other hubs made overseas. All of Chris Kings rear hubs utilize the patented RingDrive™ engagement mechanism. RingDrive™ uses 72 engagement teeth on each drive ring. That means the hub engages over 3 times quicker than the standard 24 tooth pawl-type freehub. Trying to get started again in the middle of a steep uphill section? Going for the surprise jump to drop your buddies? This unique design offers instant and positive engagement that's capable of handling a torque load of over 800ft/lbs, or over three times more than most other high end hubs we've tested. It is the heart of King hub and all the rest is built around it.

Seriously good hubs There's so much to like about these hubs and very little to complain about. Mine have been flawless for a good few years of hard riding and haven't needed much in the way of maintenance. Everything is maintainable, durable and replaceable. When you crack them open and have a look at the insides, you'll get to appreciate them a whole lot more. They look great, sound great, are light enough and strong enough. The fun bolts are excellent for generating enough clamping force for horizontal dropouts. I dig em. Pros: Good design and outstanding workmanship.
Reliable
Servicable Cons: You need the special tool to do a full tear down of the hubs, though this is a rare thing and you could always take them to a shop to this. SS Chris King hub Been riding King hubs for over ten years. Kind of pricy but you pay for what you get. Easy to service which is very seldom. Colors are great. Wish they would bring back the purple. Maybe a little heavier then say pauls or phils. Pros: Looks, quality, durability Cons: None. When planning my build for the ultimate SS race bike, it wasn't hard to converge on the CK SS hub. My definition of "ultimate" is never worrying about a failure, but also competitively light with functional benefits over the competition. I also like something that is highly serviceable and which uses standard spokes.
I've been very happy with this hub so far. The near even flange spacing provided the near zero dish wheel I was seeking. After the first 100 miles of use there is still no detectable play, and of course the adjusment is trivial if it ever does occur. The freehub sound was a bit higher than I originally anticipated, but has become noticeable quieter after the initial break in period.
Finally, they look incredible.

the best ss hub on the market. my xc race bike is very happy with this hub. bullet-proof, rebuildable, and the fun bolts rock! Pros: super well built, light, durable, stylish Cons: expensive like all chris king - but you get what you pay for Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: December 14, 2010 Reviewed by: Alan J., California Was this review Helpful? The best While building my new single speed wheelset I decided to splurge on the rear wheel. I love this hub. It's beautiful, relatively light, and has quick and positive engagement. I've used it for several hundred miles over the past year and haven't had to do any adjustments. I'm confident this hub will last a LONG time. The fun bolts work well in holding the wheel in place and don't weigh much. Even the price (I feel) is reasonable, given that it's made in the USA and is beautifully crafted. Better than the I9 wheels I was using before, in my opinion. Pros: Engagement, weight, colors, buildquality, madeintheusa Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 01, 2010 Reviewed by: David M., Maryland Was this review Helpful?
