Magura Bleed Kits and Parts

Absolutely critical to the process

Magura brakes aren't the easiest to set up or bleed, but without this kit you would never get it done properly. Well worth the investment if you're going to keep them for a while!

Great service kit

I realized my bleed kit would not fit my set of used Marta's so I picked this kit up for a quick bleed. I followed the instructions on Magura's site since the included instructions were for the new MT series brakes. I'm glad the directions didn't include "freak out when you loose fluid when putting the port screws back in". I worked as quick as I could but it seemed that I lost a lot of fluid after removing the bleed adapter while trying to get the port screw back in. I just stuck to the instructions and cleaned everything up. That's a plus to mineral oil is that you don't have to be as worried about it eating your paint. Once I got everything back together I had monster modulation and good power. The Marta SL's are so smooth! Too bad Magura went to their next gen brakes.

Pros: Easy to bleed with this kit, good construction of the parts. Fluid and hose shortening bits included.

Cons: Had to look older Marta brake bleed instructions up online.

I bought this kit to bleed Magura brakes on my new bike. Two of my older bikes use Avid Brakes. I will never EVER buy Avid brakes again. Avids are a Pain in the A to bleed-impossible to do consistently. Magura are super easy to bleed.

You have to have one of these to bleed the magura brakes. This kit really does make the job simple, and hassle free. The fact that Magura uses their non-toxic "blod" is a huge plus also - none of that toxic DOT fluid to get on your skin.

Pros: Makes bleeding magura brakes a doddle.

Cons: None at all.

Bleed Kit

Pretty basic kit. Mine did not have the bag with all the extras. Universal squared me away with what I needed. Still don't think I got everything but it was enough to bleed. Would recommend buying extra bottle of blood.

Pros: Does the job.

Cons: would upgrade if you change fluid often or have multi bikes.

Leave it to the Germans to provide a comprehensive bleed kit with all the adapters, little tools and extra parts.

Not much to say about the "bleeding," itself. The syringes work fine and the little bottle of fluid is sufficient for small jobs, but I would recommend a larger container of fluid if you bleed a lot of have a lot of bikes with Magura brakes.

Pros: Lots of bleed-related accessories.

Cons: How about providing a bit more fluid in the kit?

Keeping it simple

I bought the standard kit and was a bit confused at first for a lack of appropriate instructions but after finding a better resource on Magura's website, had no problems. I appreciated the extra "olives" and torx wrench.

Requires a little practice

I've run Magura Marta SL's for 9 years and have been bleeding them with this kit the entire time. It takes a little practice to do it right the first time but this is a minimal investment for the do it yourself home bike mechanic. I've seen the professional version of their bleed kit used at a bike shop, and if you have the money to spend, it would be a better long term investment if you have a stable of bikes with Magura brakes.

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: There are better instructions available online than the instrucftions provided with the kit. Do a little googling before you try to bleed them the first time and you will have a better experience.

Dealer service/bleed kit

Because all of my mountain bikes have Magura brakes, this kit is indispensable. I addition to containing everything you need to bleed your brakes, it also has many small parts for replacement or repair. The only thing that I haven't used is the small plastic tubing cutter. I have a Jagwire bench mounted cutter that I use instead. I suppose the cutter included in the kit could be used in emergencies but I wouldn't expect it to stand up to repeated use.


Pros: Pretty much everything you need to bleed and/or repair your Magura brakes

Cons: Tubing cutter could be suspect and bottle of fluid is very small

Includes everything you need to bleed your brake. But it only includes enough fluid to do so once.

Pros: Includes all the goodies you need to do a proper bleed.

Cons: The fluid bottle can only be considered a starter, sample size. You'll need to buy more if you plan to bleed more than one brake.

Bleed and rebuild all in one kit

Like you would expect from the Germans this kit has everything you need as well as the stuff you need but did not realize you needed. I personally hate to bleed brakes. I suck at it. This kit is not to blame for that though. Here you will find all of what you need to bleed and shorten/repair hoses

Pros: Everything you need in one place

Cons: Bleeding brakes is a thankless experience
