i really love these, feel and look good Pros: power modulators, price!!! Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: May 10, 2013 Reviewed by: terry b., California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Great levers! These brake levers are great! They have a very nice feel to them, and the adjustable barrel for brake feel is a nice touch to dial it in just how you like it. The all metal construction is definitely nice and sure to last a long time.
Also, they make it so you can switch the mounting bolt to either side of the clamp for those concerned about making your setup look perfect like I chose to ;) Pros: Metal construction, easy adjustments, adjustable feel Cons: Didn't come with cables? Not really a fault though. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 30, 2013 Reviewed by: Ian G., Portland, Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Great brake levers with a lot of adjustment. I've crashed several times with these and they have yet to even be scratched. Very well made and very smooth during use. awesome adjustable lever got these for one of my mtb with mechanical disks, and they work flawlessly. you can dial the amount of pull they work with which makes dialing in the action of your linear pull brakes possible Pros: good build
the pull is adjustable which changes the action of your brakes Cons: none really Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 13, 2013 Reviewed by: Jonathan G., California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
The entry level levers you've been looking for These little hard hitters have by far surpassed my expectations. They have done it for me for years on a couple of my do it all hardtails. There are other options I've tried in this category, and these just out shine every lever next to it. The red dial lets you control just how much pressure is needed to max out the brake. The price, nothing else needs to be noted on that note. The range of adjustments when combined with the BB7's are wide. Even with a untrue wheel you can find your discs peaceful zone. It really shocked my how easy it was as well. Give it and your cables some lube from time to time and all will stay smooth. All in all, you want these levers for your mechanical disc setup and/or rim brakes. Pros: Price, weight, the lack of maintenance, easily replaceable and they work with all kinds of brake systems. Cons: Reliability could be an issue if you like to run into trees! Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 05, 2013 Reviewed by: Chase M., Texas Was this review Helpful? The speed dial is a really good lever. I have had them setup on a cross bike with cantilevers, XTR V-brakes and finally TRP Mini-V. The speed dial alows you to get them 'dialed' in to any style of caliper. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: February 07, 2013 Reviewed by: Jay, Oregon Was this review Helpful? Being able to adjust the modulation is awesome! Haven't had these long but I sure glad I spent the extra 10 bucks over the standard levers! Pros: Adjustable. These are amazing levers! I've tried quite a few different brands, but nothing gives me one finger modulation like these! I've run them with both V-Brakes and Discs, and they are perfect for both. The speed dial ladjusment allows you to customize the levers to give you exactly the braking feel you want. The Benchmark! These levers set the benchmark for performance and cost. I've used levers ranging from SD-7',s to XT's, and even Pauls Love Levers. I keep coming back to the SD-7's. They might not looks as sophisticated as the Pauls or as racy as the XT's, but they offer an unparalleled amount of adjustment and a smoothness that is lacking in the other levers. Not to mention that they're CHEAP! (in cost, not quality). Pros: Tons of adjustment, Inexpensive Cons: Looks unrefined Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 12, 2012 Reviewed by: Roger C., Michigan Was this review Helpful? Speed Dial 7 Levers I used these on a flatbar set up on my cx bike. Work great and have tool free adjustment. Low cost and reasonable weight. Pros: Work well and have a good shape. Lever feel and cable pull is perfect. Cons: None, you get what you expect and they work as they should. Avid Speed Dial 7 Levers Bottom line. They rock! I have them coupled with my BB7's and they work great. The little red knob is the wonder of it all, adjust your modulation, and how much power it takes to lock up the wheels. I personally nearly have the knob screwed out all the way, for tons of power. They looks great too, metallic charcoal! Pros: Great adjustability, look's great, easy to set up, works with many brakes, NOT just rim brakes! Cons: None! Good simple levers. Nice to have the lever adjustment on the top. The ambidextrous arrangement is great, helps avoid too many extra components in the parts bin when stripping down bikes.
We did snap one trying to pry the handbag grip open over a bar curve. Otherwise, they are simple and work fine. Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 13, 2011 Reviewed by: Western Edge, Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Great match for BB7s I used those with my old SRAM 9.0 V-Brakes and now use them with the BB7 calipers Pros: stiff, modulation adjustment Cons: no white option Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 22, 2011 Reviewed by: Adam U., Texas Was this review Helpful? Solid performer I used these levers to replace the stock FR-5 levers on my bike. I considered getting the lighter SL version, but didn't think the weight savings were worth the extra dollars. I've really like how adjustable they are, especially the reach adjustment. Pros: Easy to install, lots of ways to adjust the lever position and feel, much quieter than the FR-5s Cons: Takes a bit to figure out exactly what dial does what Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 28, 2011 Reviewed by: Josh, Virginia Was this review Helpful? Well constructed, very adjustable, can be made to work at nearly any angle, and of course you can dial in the cable pull for anything from cantis to v-brakes.
Buy these rather than the more expensive ones, they work exactly the same. Save your money for tires. Cons: A version with a longer lever would be a nice option. Of all levers I have used these are the best. Simple install, looks great, and easily adjustable. Smooth action of the lever. Hands down about the best you can get for the money! I have used these with calipers, disc, and drum brakes. All good! Pros: Smooth brake action with any type brakes. Cons: None. Satisfied. I got a pair of these to go with my Avid BB5 brake and they work well enough.
Sometimes the cable rubs internally so I squrited a little WD40 in the to slove that problem.
Also, when I crashed my mountain bike, the tip of one of the levers snaped off. So they seem a little brittle and might not be manufactured out of the best metal in the world.
Either way, they're good for the price and preform adequately. Pros: They look nice.
They're chaep. Cons: Cheaply made. Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: May 11, 2011 Reviewed by: Patrick Y., Utah Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Ergonomics in Mind These brake levers where designed with multiple hand sizes in mind.
Nice feel, smooth hinges and adjustable.
Love the simplicity and power transfer.
Also available individually in case you catch the car door prize and bend one of your levers. The Speed Dial 7's are great! Well built with solid pivots. Hold up to crashes quite well. Adjustable cable pull is great for dialing in the feel of your brakes, and especially for getting the front and rear brakes to feel more similar. It's amazing that these don't cost more!
