Kit works but is expensive and Formulas are just plain difficult to bleed in comparison so I guess it's not fair to give a bad rating other than to tell Formula to get with the program! Pros: Zip tie the hoses and everything stays put when bleeding (far better than the Hayes kits). Cons: Pricey and difficult brakes to bleed to begin with! Minimalist bleed kit The Formula kit is not as complete as the Avid bleed kit, but it has the adapters you need to get the job done for a set of Formula brakes.
Expensive for what you get compared to the Avid kit that has bleed blocks, fluid, etc. Pros: Has the adapters you need Cons: Expensive Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 29, 2012 Reviewed by: Jim, Oklahoma Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Needed a new set of syringes and picked these b/c of price and they are form my current brake manufaturer. They work fine but the hose rigging is a bit shody Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: February 29, 2012 Reviewed by: Keith H., Massachusetts Was this review Helpful? Great kit. Includes everything needed to perform what is a very simple process. Pros: Does what it is supposed to do. Cons: Expensive for what it is. Formula Bleed Kit After using this bleed kit I was happy to finally have my brakes bled, I've had the hose come off the tube. Before you use this kit glue the hose to the tube and this will eliminate that issue. Pros: Works perfectly Cons: Hose came off Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: January 12, 2012 Reviewed by: terry g., California Was this review Helpful? This bleed kit is why I no longer ride Formula brakes. The threads are fragile, the o-rings do not seal appropriately unless you really crank them down. The system does not seal well, and allows air in. Bleeding is so annoying that I'm done with Formula brakes. The bleeding fittings on the brakes are also subpar, but that's another review. Cons: Fittings of poor quality and fail
O-rings don't seal
Introduces air into the system Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: November 15, 2011 Reviewed by: Erik K., Colorado Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
There's some (undeserved) mystique about bleeding brakes -- Formulas in particular.
You absolutely need this kit to do it, and if you haven't done it before I recommend giving it a try. It's not that hard, and you'll understand your braking system much better. Also, you can do a careful bleed and let it sit overnight to take out those last little air bubbles. A shop doesn't always have the time to do that, as they have tons of bikes to work on and customers want them back ASAP.
This fits Formula brakes perfectly, as you'd expect.
I've used it on The One, Oros and R1s. Pros: It works Cons: I wish Formula included it with brakes. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: June 28, 2011 Reviewed by: eric b., Wyoming Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Works well - it's really just a couple syringes and threaded fittings. the o-rings are very delicate on the fittings. Pros: Works Cons: Price, delicate o-rings. Great kit even for R1s Use this kit on my R1s and made bleeding the brakes after replacing the lines a breeze...this is the only kit I have used and will continue to use as it works well for me...did use the zip ties once but not on a second occasion with any troubles both times Pros: Work great
With R1s bleeding is easy Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: May 07, 2011 Reviewed by: Hector S., New York Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Basic Bleed Kit for Formula Really basic bleed kit for Formula brakes. Used it to successfully bleed my K24 Oro's. Not particularly easy or hard to use. I've used better kits, but this one will get the job done. Pros: Works, price, simplicity. Cons: Not many features, not super easy to use. This kit did what it is designed to do. Did it exceed my expectations, no! Did it fall below my expectations, no! I would advise anyone using this product, to definitely follow the directions (use zip ties). Pretty much a straight forward product. as others have said this kit works, but the avid set is better, it even comes with brake fluid and the syringes have a nice stop valve. Pros: gets the job done when you need to bleed your brakes Cons: the syringes aren't as nice, making it a little me of a harder job then the avids Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: January 03, 2011 Reviewed by: will m., Oregon Was this review Helpful? everything i needed to bleed my beloved formula oro k24 brakes. Pros: good for bleeding formula brakes Cons: not so good for bb5s LOL!!!! Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 19, 2010 Reviewed by: Steven K., Hawaii Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Bleeding brakes, bleeding knuckles Okay, a bit of an exaggeration but I really dislike the brakes and the bleed kit. Compared to brakes that have a resevior, these guys are a nightmare. I guess I'm just not that coordinated... Pros: It'll get the job done without a mess. Cons: Requires ninja skills to bleed. This is the only bleed kit I've tried and I've used it on my Formula K24's with out any issues. I remember using zip ties to secure the tubes to the syringe as a precaution... overall, the item worked as expected. Expensive, not worth it Get the avid set at half the price. You're looking at about $2 worth of plastic syringes. Formula's prices for stuff like this is marked up past the moon! Pros: >Safe and effective Cons: >Absurdly priced Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: September 02, 2010 Reviewed by: danfinger, SFCA Was this review Helpful?
