bottom bracket tool

I like this better because I can use a 1/2in drive on it.

Pros: 1/2 drive

Cons: none

Well made tool

I mostly buy park tools, but this one is excellent, and less expensive.

Pros: Does what it does, well. I like have a socket wrench hole and wrench flats - sometimes it's helpful to use both together to keep from slipping.

This is a good quality took for removing bottom brackets - much better than the open-ended wrench design that will damage your BB teeth over time. It is very durable. However, in it's mission to fit every bottom bracket, it fits my Shimano and CK BBs a little loose. No real problem, but I wish the tolerances were better. Having the gnurled grip on the outside makes installation and removal way easier.

Pros: Durable metal

Cons: Could be of higher tolerance

Home mechanic's staple

This affordable tool has been a staple of my toolkit for years. It's about as fuss-free as it gets, and I appreciate that it can take a 1/2" drive but just as easily accommodate an adjustable crescent wrench. As the previous reviewer noted, the tolerances aren't super-tight. Not a big deal, except there's a potential to leave small marks on dark-anodized cups if you're not careful.

Pros: Affordable, effective

Cons: Would be better if fit was closer

Handy tool if you are your own mechanic. Works fine. Does slip a little on some cups; but good all around. It's a cast product, not machined. So if you're using it everyday, I'd look at the higher end units. Good value.
