Does what it needs to - install Phil BB.

You need two to really do the job right, one to hold the position of the BB, the second to tighten the other side.

Pros: Well built

Cons: none

It's mildly annoying that you need a special tool to install Phil's bottom brackets. I ended up getting one of these and then one of the shop tools with the fixed handles. It makes getting the BB and cups centred that little bit easier, but I'm sure you could get by with just one of these.

Pros: It has 'Phil' on the side. Oooooh!

I don't use this tool very often

But when I do use it I am glad I have it. Yes I could make some other tool work but it would gouge threads or splines and these bottom brackets are too nice to want to do that to.

Pros: Does exactly what it has been designed to do,and does it well. Plus they make you look cool doing it! Just look at the classy workmanship on this thing!

Cons: Do we really need one more special tool? Really?

Phil Wood Portable Bottom Bracket Tool

Easy to use, light weight, and small, fits in a pocket if there is a reason to carry the tool on a ride. I've used it a number of times and it has never failed me.

Pros: Less expensive than the larger shop tool.

Cons: Requires a wrench to turn it, but most would have the required wrench anyway.

Essential for Phil Wood bottom brackets. Buy 1 and installation is a chore. Buy 2 and installation is a snap.

Pros: Solid, simple and shop quality.
