An economy solution for a fixie on a budget. Not recommended for a lot of riding, or for powerful riders, but you get what you pay for. If budget is key, this chain should work, it just might not get you powering up a steep incline on a fixed gear bike, yet for a cro-mo chain made in Japan, the price works.
Note, my recommendations on this product is based on what we usually purchase, not any performance issues with this particular chain. Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: November 13, 2011 Reviewed by: Western Edge, Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Decent chain. Not the best I have owned but also not the worst. Good deal for the price. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 22, 2011 Reviewed by: Josh L., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Inexpensive, solid, durable... I have been running this chain on my track bike for some time now and there doesn't seem to be much stretch that happens. Very solid and for the price, you can't beat it. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 16, 2011 Reviewed by: NW, Atlanta Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Izumi Eco Chain I ride a fixed gear, and I've used a KMC Z410 and a KMC Z710. The Z410 stretched quickly, and the Z710, while durable, was heavy with its oversized plates. I read great reviews for this chain and I was looking for something a little lighter than the Z710, so I went with it. So far, I have no complaints. It's easy to install and it comes with a nice coating of lube (which may make for a messy install, but it should last awhile).
This is a great economy priced chain. Why spend $7-$10 on a vastly inferior cheapo KMC chain when I could spend an extra few bucks and get myself a chain that should easily last twice the lifespan?
I've heard reports of not-so-great corrosion resistance (if you want corrosion resistance, go with the silver Eco chain), but I haven't had any problems with it yet. Pros: Solid, easy to install clip mechanism, good quality lube, durable Cons: None yet Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: January 19, 2011 Reviewed by: Alex G., Illinois Was this review Helpful? Probably the best chain for the money in my book. When I first started riding fixed gear about three years ago, I was reading lower quality chains. After finding them to stretch out and be for the most part unuseable after a few weeks, I decided to make a bit more of an investment. Picking the Eco chain was the best chain decision I've made so far. Although costing twice as much as the less expensive chain, the Eco chain has a lifetime that can be counted in terms much longer than a month at a time. Pros: Solid construction, durable, long-lasting chain that can take a beating. Cons: Comes pre-lubed, which can make for a messy install.
