Use these on my Dura Ace road shifters AND XTR mtn shifters (since they are the only Shimano off-road shift units without the built-in gear position windows). I find them indispensible--saves looking back through your legs to see what cog you're on.
Pros: Only option to see visually what gear you're in!
Cons: If you don't care what gear you're in

Great to see your gear setting with having to look down to your gears. In my experience keeps me cognizant of the gear efficiency and for trails I regularly ride I prep and shift to the ideal gear I need when I get to certain parts.
Pros: Easy to install self adjusting. Weights next to nothing, specially good for knowing which gear is on for rear cassette. Keeps you from looking down to check gears, eyes on the road or trail. Simple works well.
Cons: None that I have experienced.
