These work great, I love the concave version.

Not much to say about these, other than they are needed and fit as they should.

Pros: Good fit and not too expensive.

Allowed me to switch from downtube shifters. Work well. The barrel adjusters arent the best.

A quality install-and-forget item. The standard concave stop fit perfectly on my Gunnar, although I did have to sand down the paint on the bosses a bit due to the tight fit. I have a 1x9 setup, so I took out the adjuster on the left stop and replaced it with a round head bolt that matches the included bolts - it looks good.

Pros: Quality item the works perfectly.

Cons: None.

Perfect fit on my Cannondale CAAD3 Saeco frame that came without the downtube cable stops. No problems with these so far, and popped right on the downtube like factory parts.

Pros: Fit

Cons: Price - not really much to these for what they cost

Shimano STI Downtube Cable Stop and Adjuster

Fit perfectly on our new SOMA Smoothie Frame
Just what the doctor ordered. I've seen it where they have been mounted and left no room to adjust between the frame and adjuster, thats not the case on our SOMA frame. Fit perfect.

Pros: Works right out of the box. Perfect fit for a SOMA Smoothie frame

Cons: NONE

Simple fix

I wanted to install STI shifters on an old downtube shifter frame. This simple, cheap piece allows routing of the shifter cables through the old downtube braze-ons and even has a built in barrel adjuster. Didn't even add much weight!

Pros: Simple
concave machining fits to frame

The Standard for Downtube cable stops

I have these on all my bikes with downtube shifter bosses. They work flawlessly and the quality is top notch. Be careful installing though as some frames have thicker paint which makes the fit tighter and you don't want to chip or scrape it off when sliding these over the bosses.

Pros: High quality Shimano product

Ok, I am not going to say, "These just work...", but hey, they do, and they look really nice on a vintage bike, especially when you want to replace those down tube shifters with some groovy bar-end shifters. Oh, and did I mention they're silver? Nice......

Everett Cykler

I have used these adjusters on several road bikes I have built from the frame up using shimano Ultegra and Dura Ace 9 & 10 speed shifter/brake levers. I you want to modernize and older frame (I prefer light weight steel), these adjusters are a must.

Pros: Easy installation. Easy to adjust on the run.

Cons: None

These are ok

I have the CS50s on two bikes now. They really are not easy to use. They only really turn when there is no tension on the cable and even then the indexing mark feels really faint so i never know if it has actually 'clicked'.. A pain when you are riding and reaching down with one hand trying for a quick fix. Additionally at $17 they seem pretty expensive for some simple parts that dont work really well.

Pros: They work as cable stops on downtube bosses

Cons: indexing is weak and they are hard to turn when there is any pressure on the cable. Expensive

Exactly what you need

These work great. The knobs don't turn on accident and it is nice to have adjustable stops. Curved to mate with downtube. Excellent fit/finish.

Pros: good finish

Cons: A little pricey.

I think the winged/thumb ones probably adjust better than the barrel ones. The barrel adjusters lack leverage and are hard on your fingers. Otherwise they look nice and work well.

Cons: Barrel adjusters are hard to spin with your fingers.

Downtube adjusting barrels

I got the dual adjusting barrels because the dura-ace lever action on the right barrel kept flipping down to a lower level when I'd ride on rough roads.

Pros: They hold their tension properly

Cons: Just make sure you get either the flat mount or the oval mount ones to fit your frame properly.

These fit nicely on my LHT frame. They seem to function well. It would be outstanding if there was a slot that would allow for the cable to be easily removed, but for the price, I'm not complaining. Some Shimano shifters inlcude a pair of these.

Pros: price

Not just for STI - these work excellently if you switch from downtube to bar-end shifters or any other sort of non-downtube shifters. They sit perfectly on the bosses of my old road bike and with a bit of grease, they adjust quite smoothly, as well. Nice lil' units!

Last summer I upgraded my '89 Trek steel lugged frame to STI shifting that I cannibalized from a more recent Trek that had been wrecked. These Cable Stops were the perfect adapters for the switch from downtube to STI shifting. They fir the braze on mount point perfectly, and the concave back of the base matches the curve of an old steel frame's tubing quite well. Plus, coming from Shimano, they matched great with the mostly-Shimano gruppo I put on from the more modern Trek!

A very well-fitting unit; they fit snugly onto downtube shifter bosses and stay there, even when subjected to gravel, chipseal, and the other indignities found on quiet country roads.

The only problem with them (at least the ones with the plastic barrel adjusters) is that the shifter cables are a very snug fit, so if you don't grease them it's a bit of a challenge to actually *use* the adjusters on them.

Typical Shimano fit and function

Purchased for my new no-frills aluminum Nashbar road frame intended for every-day commuting.

The lack of welded down-tube cable stops forced this purchase.

Like any other Shimano products I've used, product quality is clean and polished, while installation and fitment was simple and snug.

Pros: - Good build quality
- Useful barrel adjusters for on-the-fly adjustment
- Easy to install

Cons: - Barrel adjusters initially stiff to use
- Kinda pricey for something so small and simple

STI downtube stops

Nicely finished, I wish all drop bar bikes had some provision for mounting these. They make it easy to adjust the derailer while riding.

Pros: Nicely finished, easy to adjust.

Cons: A bit pricey for a small piece of metal.
