Just enough spring I stuck this on a longtail cargo bike to soak up the bump from curb cuts. There is just enough spring to smooth things out but not so much where you get bouncy. Took care of one particular spot where I would always get bounced off the saddle. Also need to lube the points where the rails and springs meet so it stays quiet. Pros: Brooks quality. Cons: Expensive, long break in period. Sometimes makes noise. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 19, 2013 Reviewed by: Nick L., Minnesota Was this review Helpful? I replace my el-cheapo gel set with this the day before riding the Portland Centure last year. I was prepared for pain, since the recommended procedure is to gradually break it in over 3 30-mile rides. Having done all 3 of those rides in one day, I have to say, I was impressed. I didn't even feel the saddle until mile 75, and even then it was still fairly pleasant compared to the last couple of hills. :)
The packaging is old-world and beautiful, and well thought out. It's obvious they put a lot of time, care and love into their saddle. I wouldn't hesitate to put a Brooks on any one of my bicycles. Pros: Comfort.

I have this saddle on my touring bike and the springs are a welcome addition for those long days in the saddle. In my opinion leather is the hands down the best saddle material. Comfortable, sexy and cool - it's a brooks Installed this on my 8-spd alfine mustache bike. Works great for a somewhat upright riding position. Springs provide a little bit of shock absorption on bumps. Easy to attach saddle bags. Oh, and it's a brooks saddle, so it gets lots of looks Pros: Leather - best saddle material. Springs provide extra support. Easy to attach saddle bags. Cons: Like all leather saddles, you have to care for the material, and every once in a while adjust the nose bolt to tighten the 'center sag'. I've ridden Brooks B17s for a while and decided to go with the sprung Flyer for bike touring on less than smooth roads. Worked very well for those conditions; and on a touring bike the extra weight of the saddle is not a factor. Pros: comfortable when cycling bumpy roads Cons: weight Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 15, 2010 Reviewed by: Colin K., Virginia Was this review Helpful?
