Fizik Superlight Bar Tape

great grip, classy look

You can get this bar tape in just about any color, and it's as close to leather as you're going to get. It stays cool in the summer because of all the holes, and it never slips. It is a little expensive, but it will totally make your bike look like new.

I've been really happy with this as a replacement bar wrap. The soft touch is very nice, providing a good grip and it comfortable as well. It hasn't been installed terribly long but shows no real sign of wear yet.

I really like Fizik tape as opposed to others. It is durable, not too much padding, and just has a good feel to it. Does not get slippery and I sweat alot. Has a very nice, neat, and clean look to it once wrapped. Usually doesn't leave a mess on the bars as well once ready to re-wrap.

I like this bar tap as it matches my fizik saddles perfectly and whips clean when it gets dirty. There are better feeling tapes out there but this one is good nice enough and worth it as it actually stays white unlike some other brands.

Very hardy texture. Has stood up well to use and abuse. Maintains grip even when sweaty. Lots of color choices to match any bike.

Durable

I was sick of my foam/cork padded tape getting roughed up when I leaned my bike against something (I don't always get the pleasure of using bike racks). This tape has better abrasion resistance and does the job.

Good tape. It's soft, but not gel soft. I got the suede like feel, and it's pretty nice on my hands. Makes me feel like I'm rich.

Black microtex

I like the look of the perforated tape, very classic. Also very durable and easy to clean. If you ride without gloves you might not like the lack of padding.

This is really great bar tape. It has a generally low profile so it looks great but it doesn't have a whole lot of padding. Really classy looking though and has lasted quite a bit of time.

Fizik Bar Tape

Fizik tape feels so comfortable with and without gloves. The colors add something extra to the bike.

Pros: Great feel, great color options.

Cons: The tape cost a little more than it should and the material doesn't allow much stretch and can wrinkle easily.

This wrap is great! I use the soft touch Microtex and its super soft and grippy. I love the variety of options from this wrap, and comes with plugs also.

Only down sides are that they are pretty thin, and when they get wet they feel really slimy like, but i usually ride with gloves so it doesn't bother me much.

I really like how this tape looks. There's not a lot of padding though and when I am doing a long ride with the fizik tape I always try to make sure I wear my gloves as well. If you're a glove wearer by habit already, these will be great for you, because too much padding often makes it worse.

After years of all kinds of tape, this has become our go-to tape. I particularly like the microtex soft-surface tape, it has a great feel to the hand, yet seems to hold up well.

Nice variety, colours and patterns. Laying it up is a little tricky if you order the shiny surface tapes, particularly the darker colours. Fine line between pulling it too snug and leaving it too loose. The tape does not have much give, and won't flex around bends. I've sometimes snipped the inside extra material to help get it around tight bends. On the other hand, the smooth surface makes for easy cleaning.

Not a lot of padding, I use either old tape under tape, or use gel pads, depending on rider preference.

Pros: Great material, nice finishes, good variety, cleans well.

Cons: A little stiff.

I love the texture of soft touch microtex tape. It can be a little tricky to install, but once it is on it stays and has above average durability. I use this tape with the Fizik Bar Gel pads and it provides a good amount of cushion without being bulky. When wet this tape doesn't get slippery the way others can.

Pros: Texture, Grip, Durability

Cons: Not the easiest bar tape to install

Microtex is a winner

I love Fizik Microtex Tape. Along with their dual tape, I rarely stray from the brand. The Microtex tape comes in a few flavors; I tend to favor the soft touch foam backed variety, as it helps to some of the sting out of the chipseal. The imitation seude feel is great, and the tape is fairly resilient to wear and tear.

Just be careful when making your selection as there are some subtle differences between tapes aside from color.

Best bar tape in the universe.

Extremely long lasting, stain resistant, and great feel.

I wrap my bars as tight as the can go and this tape offers very little cushion. If you want cushion they make a gel insert.

I have the white tape and am able to re-use it when I replace my housing. The only thing that will spell the end of this tape is a wreck that tears it up. I won't ever use anything else.

One other thing to note, this tape can be slick when it is new and it gets wet. Make sure to break it in before cross season, otherwise you may be in for an adventure.

If it needs cleaning just wipe it off with some window cleaner.

good tape if you know what you're getting into. ita very minomalist with no cushion and its somewhat slick. also a bit tedious to apply because the tape is stiff and prone leaving loose flaps sticking up on the outside of turns. this van be avoided by pulling the tape very tight, which it handles well.

Pros: colors/looks, pulls tight without breaking, cleans easily

Cons: stiff, hard, somewhat slick

My favorite bar tape

This is my favorite bar tape. It's easy to apply and reapply, looks great, doesn't rip, and is easy-to-clean because it's microfiber!

As long as this stuff is made, I'll never buy anything else.

Good quality tape. It's essentially a faux leather. If your wondering about padding it is just about as much as leather would give you. I don't like the lack of padding and consiquently losses a star, next time I'll go with something with more padding. Very light and adds almost no weight to my bars.

cleans/stays clean easily (I have the white)

Cons: Not much padding makes me have to switch hand positions a lot or my hands start to hurt.

Great looking tape with not so great grip

I really wanted to like this tape. The material looks and feels awesome - when riding with cycling gloves.

Unfortunately, the grip is reduced when riding gloveless. I find my hands start to slide all over the bars while climbing if I've been sweating.

Reasonably grippy in the wet, great in the dry. Strong, easy to apply and won't tear easily.

Pros: Strength, grip, feels good to hold.

Cons: could have more padding, but that can always come from the gel kit.
