Chris King ISO Disc Rear Heavy Duty Hub
Chris King hubs are the most sought after hubs on the market today, not only are they 100% made in good ole Portland Oregon! but they are a perfect blend of art and engineering into a functional long lasting hub. With the legendary King sealed bearings you know these hubs will roll smooth for years and they are 100% serviceable unlike other hubs made overseas. All of Chris Kings rear hubs utilize the patented RingDrive™ engagement mechanism. RingDrive™ uses 72 engagement teeth on each drive ring. That means the hub engages over 3 times quicker than the standard 24 tooth pawl-type freehub. Trying to get started again in the middle of a steep uphill section? Going for the surprise jump to drop your buddies? This unique design offers instant and positive engagement that's capable of handling a torque load of over 800ft/lbs, or over three times more than most other high end hubs we've tested. It is the heart of King hub and all the rest is built around it. The heavyduty axel is big and burly and can be used for DH or All-mountain riders looking for extra strength and less flex.

Amazing Great hub. Looks good, spins nice and I love the angry bee sound. Pros: Light, good looks, serviceable, strong Cons: price Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 16, 2012 Reviewed by: Jensina M., Eugene, Or Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
This is the finest bicycle component that I own. They actually seem to get better with age. The 72 point engagement in great in those tight trials-like situations. Pros: See above. Cons: A bit pricey. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: June 02, 2011 Reviewed by: Mike , Colorado Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
after years of destroying lesser quality rear hubs, I'm totally stoked to be riding on a Chris King (with Funn bolt option), low maintenance, fast rolling, ultra stiff, reliable, instant pedal engagement, cool whirr sound when coasting at high speed... I really love to ride this hub, get yours now, you will not be disappointed !!! You've heard people rave about these guys for a reason. Pros: Engagement points
Quality
Cons: Expensive
Slightly more drag due to engagement points
Not the lightest hub available Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 11, 2010 Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Chris King! Gotta love them. I started off with a set of Black hubs laced to DT Swiss 5.1Ds and got hooked. The saying "Ignorance is bliss" is TRUE. Before I had the King, I was cool with the wheels that came stock with my bike. Now? Kings all the way. I have 3 sets now and will always roll with King. Once you get a taste of 72pt engagement, that's it.
Pay a little extra and get the heavy duty rear with the stainless steel drive sheel and fun bolts. It's totally worth the price. Much stronger, tracks better, the whole deal. My standard shells on my other set looks jacked up compared to the SS version, and the fun bolts? My quick release days are over on the front and back. Pros: Beautiful, easy to service, instant engagement, reliable. Cons: Expensive but you can't put a price on your health and performance.
