works better than you might think i used to commute on a fixed gear with bull horns about 100 miles a week, and I had the bar end TT style levers, but I also wanted to have the levers on the flats when i am cruising, because cars tend to cut you off when you are not expecting it, and I spent about half of my time on the flats as i did in the horns.
makes cycling a lot safer in town, helps slow down and look around while not in an agressive riding position
just nice to have. extra safety Pros: extra safety, more braking/hand positions
comes in black Cons: can be little tricky to install, if you are afraid to do it yourself, have a professional do it for you because if you do the install poorly the brake levers can become stuck/ sticky Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 13, 2013 Reviewed by: Jonathan G., California Was this review Helpful? Great for commuter use. Adjustment barrel - check.
Flat black - check.
all metal - check.
bar top breaking for crusing - check.
use them on a race bike for cross - semi check, nothing wrong with them, just not the lightest option, nor would the levers inspire me with numb hands. Pros: Price and they have great features, mentioned above Cons: Nothing really, not paul quality, but 1/4 the price. Brakes for the top position I coupled these with a set of Tektro RL520 levers/hoods. They work perfect for adding brake action to the top of the road bars, which is great when commuting in city traffic. Having access to the brakes no matter where you are on the bars is nice. The feel is a bit more "mushy" than the hood/levers I matched them with but they are still strong enough to lock a wheel. Pros: Nice feel, black looks sleek. Cons: None really. They're clean and they work. The title really explains it. I'd buy them again and again. Pros: various bar fitments. Inexpensive. Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 16, 2012 Reviewed by: Jesse R., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
nice levers as stand alones, or as interceptors I have used these levers as stand-alones and as interceptors and both formats have worked extremely well. The hinge is handy and seems sturdy; it's never given me any strife. Great levers, highly recommended Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: February 27, 2012 Reviewed by: Garren E., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
brake levers are excellent! I've bought four sets for four different projects over the last 6 years and I've never regretted adding them.
They are affordable, easy to install, integrate nicely with almost any bar setup, and brake very well.
It's unfortunate that they don't come in silver, though. Pros: attractive
easy to install and use
affordable Cons: Difficult to find in silver Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: January 17, 2012 Reviewed by: richard b., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Originals on stock Fuji, worked great, altho threaded screw threads eventually stripped out a little over a year from heavy braking (city riding). Pros: Durable Cons: Has a little wiggle play if not adjusted properly. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: January 29, 2011 Reviewed by: Greg, NYC Was this review Helpful? I don't really have a frame of reference as these are the first cross levers I have installed. However, the work well and have a quality feel. A good product at a reasonable price Pros: Solidly built Cons: None so far Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: December 28, 2010 Reviewed by: Alex Was this review Helpful? Not too long ago I hopped on the bike on which I'd installed these cross levers. I'd realized that I'd forgotten their understated quality. Easy to install, adjust, and use, they really can't be beat, especially for their price. Definitely recommend them, particularly for your fixed gear build. Pros: Nice, discreet size, easy to install and adjust, look pretty cool. Cons: None. These are easy to install and are super effective. The sizing is a little tricky though; best to measure the area where the lever will clamp before choosing what clamp diameter to get. Pros: lightweight, good value Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: October 01, 2010 Reviewed by: Dan!, Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Just what I was looking for. Bought these for my Woodchipper bars. I use them with regular Tekro hood levers to offer extra stopping power on the straight portion of the bar. They install easily and the clamp is strong. Pros: Fit great Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 26, 2010 Reviewed by: Richard B., New York Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Works fine There are nicer models out there but this one works great and is pretty cheap. Pros: barrel adjusters, smooth cable path Cons: no return spring? Pivot pin thing looks not so durable.
