Fast 29er Tire Set this up tubeless on a hard tail and it turned into a rocket. Not the best tire for wet conditions but super fast in dry dirt and needles. Pros: Very fast in the right conditions, not too heavy Cons: Collects mud in a bad way. FAST 29er Rear Tire Rode the 2.2 Folding version as a rear tire during the summer. All I can say is that its a fast tire with adequate grip at the right pressure (I had it at 32 psi tubed on Mavic TN317 rims).
Very good amount of tire volume and it is true to its 2.2 size. I'd imagine that if it were mounted on Flows or Velocity Blunts, the tread face would widen up and offer even more grip. My Mavic had an internal diameter of about 19mm I believe.
Overall, great quality and great pricepoint. I also like being able to reverse its mount so that you can benefit from more tread/traction. Worth a try! Pros: Fast Rolling
Reversible Tread
Good Tire Volume
Great Value for price Cons: Would slip out on leaned turns Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 08, 2012 Reviewed by: Arnold S.D., California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Good all-rounder, nice volume, seals up well. Pros: See above Cons: Can clog quickly Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: June 14, 2011 Reviewed by: Nicholas L. Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Although the one that I got was a little heavier than advertised, at around 760 grams, it seems to work very well as a rear tire, with good traction and decent mud-shedding. I'm using the wire-bead version tubeless with a Stan's rim-strip and sealant, and it works well once you get the bead seated (though I had to use a CO2 cartridge to get it to hold air and seat the first time, which isn't all that unusual for this set-up).
I did notice that traction goes down as I increase tire pressure (normal), but the sidewall tends to fold and squirm on corners if I push it with low pressure (around 30 psig) -- just haven't found the happy-medium pressure yet, if there is one. Pros: - wire bead, so should hold up well without stretching on rim
- works with tubeless set-up with some effort
- good weight
- good traction
- good value for the money
- sidewall appears fairly tough Cons: - not as light as I had hoped
- not as tight of a fit as a tubeless-ready
- does load up with mud some Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 01, 2011 Reviewed by: Todd S., Missouri Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
AMAZING as a rear tire (no experience with it up front). I love it and have had the same one on my 29er for two seasons. It is just now starting to wear down.
If Geax had not come out with the AKA 29x2.2 I would be ordering another Saguaro for sure. Just a great XC tire. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 01, 2010 Reviewed by: Jonathan V., Michigan Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Good 29er tire, seems to work fine tubeless I'm using the 29er version in the front and though I only have a few hundred miles on it, it seems to perform well in standard dry conditions. I'm using the non-tubeless version with Stan's on a NoTubes rim (Crest 29er) and so far no problems. Geax is one of the recommended tire manufacturers by NoTubes, meaning the sidewall should be burly enough to hold up. Pros: Works fine in tubeless setup
Good performance for normal riding conditions
Good price Cons: None so far! Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 30, 2010 Reviewed by: Ryan F., Colorado Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
