Works well for the short term when you need a blast.

Most of the GU flavors are palatable. Not too sweet, not too tart. I also like their compact packet shape compared to Hammer.

Pros: Gives you a nearly-immediate jolt when you need it most.

Cons: Can get messy if your bonking. Some people throw the empty packs on the trail. Not Cool!

I like GU energy gels and I find I like most of the flavors. Favorite so far is the Jet Blackberry and my girlfriend really likes Chocolate Outrage. Consistency is good and they don't have a gritty feel or anything like that. I feel that they are pretty effective for longer rides and they help keep my energy level up!

Pros: Good flavors, don't have a gritty mouthfeel and mo weird aftertaste.

Cons: Haven't tried a lot of other energy gels, but I like GU.

Dessert on your bike

Some people can't handle gels, but I take them on every ride. The perfect amount of calories and the kick of caffeine always always push me through a race, or just get me home after a long ride.

Pros: Taste great (Espresso Love)

Cons: They can make a mess if you're a sloppy eater.

Gu gel is my go to for rides or races. The blackberry is my favorite. It provides consistent energy without the jitters.

Pros: it works! Blackberry and strawberry actually taste good.

Cons: taste, but only on a few flavors.

I'm hooked on the mint chocolate gu and usually carry at least one in my jersery pocket or pack no matter whether I'm on a road or mountain bike ride.
These have a great taste, are easy to get into and squeeze out, give a quick boost of energy. Just remember to drink lots of water.

Pros: Great mix of flavors

Cons: Too easy to lose the top once it gets ripped off. Clif Shots have the market cornered with the litter leash.

It's GU, it gives you energy, it's been around forever because it works. Just remember to drink tons of water with it.

Pros: Lots of flavors so you won't have trouble finding ones you love.

This is very tasty quick energy gel. I've since switched to Hammer and prefer that. These can be a bit sweet and high in sugar. If that's what you want than this is the stuff to get, I just prefer Hammer.

Follow the instructions, if you don't feel it you're already on better PED's.
