Phil Wood Cartridge Standard Bearings

Love Phil Wood bearings! These have an impeccable fit and finish for a bearing. No wiggles in the seals and rolls like it's on butter. I use these in my Surly New Hubs to replace the (crap) angular contact bearings. These PW's don't fit quite as tight against the axle as the Enduros which causes about .5mm side-to-side slop at the tire.

Pros: Phil Wood quality: beautiful fit and finish for a bearing, and super smooth rolling

Cons: makes a very minute amount of slop in my Surly New Hubs (doesn't affect riding in any way)

Got these to replace the stock bearings in my old hubs and vive la différence! Definitely worth the higher price versus buying the exact same bearings again. Whatever hub you have, there's probably some Phil bearings out there to fit them! Try it!

Great bearings

I installed these as replacement bearings for my Surly "new" hubs. I can't say I notice a significant enough difference between these and the original bearings to really justify the price. That said, for just a few extra dollars you're buying the best and for a wheelset that sees lots & lots of miles it's really easy for me to justify the added cost.

Pros: They fit perfect, install easily, spin smooth and silent. In short, they do exactly what they're supposed to do.

Cons: Value. This may be more neutral than a true con or negative.
