does what it's supposed to A splined cog isn't really a high tech piece of gear. I bought one of these to experiment with and ended up using it as my definitive part. Pros: -cheap
-holds under torque
-lots of tooth counts available Cons: -weight? (can't be much heavier than more exotic cogs) Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 25, 2012 Reviewed by: Austin E., Florida Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Not the best cog out there... These are pretty cheap, stamped steel cogs with kind of poor finishing. It doesn't fit well or slide smoothly onto a freewheel and bites into the freewheel doing serious damage and making it hard to remove.
If i was only a commuter and didn't really care about my stuff, i'd use this. But since these are for my race bikes, I'll try another product. Pros: cheap
light Cons: poorly made
barely fit on freewheels without effort. Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: No Reviewed on: October 03, 2012 Reviewed by: matt s., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
A dependable cog for single speed conversion bikes. It has worked well for me for a year on a single speed commuter. Pros: Inexpensive and durable. Overrated underrated product. I've used these extensively- when I first started SS in college and I was on a budget. It allowed me to dial in the ratio that worked best, which was nice.
They work well, too. Got a lot of miles out of mine with little wear showing.
Now that I know the ratios I am looking for, I'd just save and buy a nicer cog. Pros: Cheap, works. Cons: Not perfectly round- hard to get real even chain tension- though most of the time it does not matter. Cheap and easy It's not glamorous, but it gets the job done. Given the low price, it's also nice that you can buy a few to try out different ratios without spending much. Only downside is that due to their thin cross section, you can't use them on any wheels with an alloy freehub body without risk of scarring it. Pros: Simple, cheap, decent construction Cons: Thin nature can damage alloy freehub bodies Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: February 19, 2012 Reviewed by: Kim W., Washington Was this review Helpful? Great cog for the money Can't beat this cog for the price. Mine came flat and nicely cut, not weird burrs or anything. Has served me well for 150 miles with no sign of wear really at all. Pros: -Cheap
-Has the amount of teeth I want
-Is flat and true
-Good fitment on the hub Cons: -Isn't name brand, so I'm not "hip" nor "trendy"
-Wont keep me warm at night
-Can't sing me to sleep

Solid! Not the lightest, not the flashiest, but this cog is steel and durable. Feel free to crank that single speed without fear of destroying teeth. Pros: Durable, dependable Cons: Not stylish, heavy. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 24, 2011 Reviewed by: DionRidesBikes, California Was this review Helpful? For my commuter I needed a smaller cog for my cheap single speed 29er commuter... I did NOT want to pay 35+ bucks for a surly cog. Pffft!
If I had an expensive SS build, then yes, I would opt for the Surly.
Pros: Super cheap!
Works awesomely!
I ride my commuter pretty hardcore. Hitting up jumps and such on the way to work.
This $5 buck cog works like MAGIC!
No chain issues whatsoever. Cons: NONE! Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: May 26, 2011 Reviewed by: el scotto, PDX Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Strong I tried to drill some holes in this cog for use on a disc mount hub but couldn't get through it even with a drill press. The price is reasonable and I can't get it to break. It does seem like the teeth could be a little deeper though. A perfect cog to use for playing around with single speed set ups. Fairly durable. Narrow base, however. Not the cog to use on your $400 rear wheel, but perfect for fun/cruiser/town bikes. Pros: Inexpensive Single Speed conversion solution Cons: Narrow base scars hub body Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 06, 2011 Reviewed by: Jon F., Harrisburg, pa Was this review Helpful? Nice for the Price These are nice cogs for the price. I use the 18T and 20T sizes on my 29er and they have been very durable for me. Nice shiny polished finish looks good. Works and is cheap I didn't need anything fancy, just a 20t single speed cog and that is what I got. Works great! I've run of these on an old LX 8-speed hub for years without issue. Still plenty of tooth left, even after thousands of miles. Reviewed on: September 28, 2010 Reviewed by: Matthew W., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
