I use this grease on all of my bearings and contact points on my bike. It's really, really muddy where I live and ride, and this is the best waterproof grease I have ever used. It lasts a long time! Pros: Waterproof, thick, slippery and lasts a long time in terrible conditions. Highly recommended! Cons: Kindve spendy, but it does last a while Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: May 21, 2013 Reviewed by: Tj P., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Phil Wood I got lucky when I got into biking because this was the first brand of grease I bought. I have never used another. This grease goes on easy and protects. When its time to change it cleans up easy. Great for coastal, wet areas. Pros: Protects bearings when they get wet and muddy. Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: March 06, 2013 Reviewed by: bud m., katy, tx Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Simply Phil Love ths stuff. heard or saw it mentioned a few times then a couple days later a homeless guy knew I was servicing 3 diff. wheel/hub assemblies came over over & handed me a nearly new tube of the stuff. Thought maybe I could use it n he didnt even KNOW.
AWESOME, so happy I paid him TWICE fer it !!! Pros: THE go to for pro, protection Cons: Wonder what else that homeless guy had? Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: January 31, 2013 Reviewed by: Tom C., Colorado Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
I like this grease as it is of high quality and cleans up nicely. I have used it for seatpost, BB, headsets, etc.. and this stuff works great. You can't go wrong with anything Phil. Phil Wood Grease The "gold standard" of bicycle grease Pros: Lasts well and does the job Cons: Wish it came in tub for easier appilcation with small brush Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: December 20, 2012 Reviewed by: jon g., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Works great for repacking bearings. I use cheaper grease for all other threaded joints though Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: October 12, 2012 Reviewed by: Ling T. Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
It doesn't get better than Phil wood. Obviously it's great for re-packing bearings but it's also a great all-purpose grease. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: June 21, 2012 Reviewed by: Matthew J., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate

Great to have around This stuff just works. its been around forever and compared to polylube it really seems to last longer in our bc climate. i have used it most recently on my king hs and it seems to be working really well. a must have in your tool kit. Pros: Sticky, easy to apply Cons: wish the tube was bigger! Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: January 28, 2012 Reviewed by: Duncan G. Was this review Helpful? Phil Wood Grease Seems to be a lot more water resistant and hold up better than the other greases I have used. C'mon man, It's the old school original! Pros: Good lubricity, repels and holds up to water very well, sticky for installing bearings in hub races. Tradition Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: December 22, 2011 Reviewed by: Brian G., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Best grease out there, small tube is easy to always have on hand. It is just thick enough to hold the bearings in place, but never gets hard. It also cleans up easy at service time Pros: thick, small tube Cons: none Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: October 16, 2011 Reviewed by: robert p., California Was this review Helpful? Good grease This is my 3rd personal tube in about 20 years. It was a staple at the bike shops I worked for. This stuff works. I think they've changed up the formula a bit, it has a different texture. I use this stuff for everything. Spoke and nipples. BB cubs. BB spindles (to control noise and aid removal). Any treaded (non-locking) nut or bolt. Though it's not anti-seize, I've never had a BB or pedal removal issue. It works great on bearings. Used it in freehubs and for loose ball pedals and hubs and get years out of them. It lasts longer then white lithium, in my opinion. Pros: Works for anything. Tubes of the stuff seem to last for years. Cons: Not the cheapest. Probably not very enviromentally friendly. You can't go wrong with Phil grease. This stuff is one of the 'standards' on any mechanics bench. I use it on every bike I build.
Works well for me, I have no complaints except for the fact that it is slightly pricey. Pros: Works great. Tube is convenient. Cons: Slightly pricey. quality grease I use this grease for my BB cup threads as well as for installing my cranks.
Provides good lube and helps keep water out.
When I run out, I always buy more Phil Wood grease. Pros: - good waterproof grease that keeps contaminates out. Cons: - a little pricey for grease Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 13, 2011 Reviewed by: Eric R., Washington Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Excellent grease, particularly for packing traditional loose-ball/caged bearing headsets, bottom brackets, and hubs. Downside: the tube doesn't fit my grease gun. Phil does it again! Can’t say enough about Phil Wood Grease. Easy to use, does the job, stays in place, and keeps my ride running smooth. Pros: Does what it says it will and is waterproof. I got turned on to Phil Grease about 4 or 5 years ago. I now use it for every application requiring grease. I know the package says "for ball and roller bearings", but I find myself using it to lube seatpots, headsets, steel bolts, and more.
Once you try Phil's, you won't go back. Pros: A tube lasts a LONG time. Cons: There are cheaper greases out there, but they're not as good. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: June 28, 2011 Reviewed by: eric b., Wyoming Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Slick! Rebuilt the rear hub and used phils to lube the bearings. Easy to work with and came recommended. Pros: good value for the price, small enough to pack in toolbox Cons: the threaded top did not fit my finish line hand held lube gun. I use this on all my bikes. It doesn't breakdown, lasts much longer than other greases, and works very well on bearings. Especially good for the wet northwest winters. It is more expensive and probably a repackaged marine grease, but this just works and that's what I need. Pros: Waterproof, High Performance Cons: Expensive Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: February 05, 2011 Reviewed by: Eric M., Washington Was this review Helpful? best grease I use this stuff everywhere and does great in bearings, it has the perfect viscosity for being thick enough but still thin enough to keep bearings spinning freely and efficiently. Pros: great for bearings especial if you live in nasty wet places like portland Cons: a little expensive, so just use it on bearings. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: January 03, 2011 Reviewed by: will m., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
I use this grease vs parktool or other greases because it works very well, doesn't break down and seals out water very well. It works excellently with ball bearing type hubs and headsets so you need to overhaul less frequently and get less wear on bearing races and ball bearings. I have read that Raceface swiched to using this grease in their cranks and it has improved smoothness and durability. It is a little more expensive but one tube should last you a very long time unless you have 20 bikes or something. Small nozzle minimizes mess. Pros: Doesn't break down, seals out water extremely well, lengthens life of hubs, headsets with bearings and minimizes overhauling Cons: Cap breaks easily. Strange, but true Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: January 03, 2011 Reviewed by: David R., Pennsylvania Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
