Phil Wood Waterproof Grease

Best all purpose grease available. Great for bearings and bolt threads.

Pros: Long lasting and waterproof.

Cons: Price has gone up since I last bought a tube, at least the tubes last a long time.

Pretty Solid Grease

If you want one tube of grease for all applications, Phil Wood is definitely the best.

Waterproof and heavy enough for mountain hub bearings, light enough for road hubs.

Great for lubing seatposts and threads, cables, you name it.

It isnt the best at any one thing, but it almost its the best at all of them.

Pros: Best all around grease out there
great for hub bearings and lubing threads during assembly

Cons: None

I use this grease on all of my bearings and contact points on my bike. It's really, really muddy where I live and ride, and this is the best waterproof grease I have ever used. It lasts a long time!

Pros: Waterproof, thick, slippery and lasts a long time in terrible conditions. Highly recommended!

Cons: Kindve spendy, but it does last a while

Phil Wood

I got lucky when I got into biking because this was the first brand of grease I bought. I have never used another. This grease goes on easy and protects. When its time to change it cleans up easy. Great for coastal, wet areas.

Pros: Protects bearings when they get wet and muddy.

Cons: none

It doesn't get better than Phil wood. Obviously it's great for re-packing bearings but it's also a great all-purpose grease.

Great to have around

This stuff just works. its been around forever and compared to polylube it really seems to last longer in our bc climate. i have used it most recently on my king hs and it seems to be working really well. a must have in your tool kit.

Pros: Sticky, easy to apply

Cons: wish the tube was bigger!

Phil Wood Grease

Seems to be a lot more water resistant and hold up better than the other greases I have used. C'mon man, It's the old school original!

Pros: Good lubricity, repels and holds up to water very well, sticky for installing bearings in hub races. Tradition

Cons: None

Best grease out there, small tube is easy to always have on hand. It is just thick enough to hold the bearings in place, but never gets hard. It also cleans up easy at service time

Pros: thick, small tube

Good grease

This is my 3rd personal tube in about 20 years. It was a staple at the bike shops I worked for. This stuff works. I think they've changed up the formula a bit, it has a different texture. I use this stuff for everything. Spoke and nipples. BB cubs. BB spindles (to control noise and aid removal). Any treaded (non-locking) nut or bolt. Though it's not anti-seize, I've never had a BB or pedal removal issue. It works great on bearings. Used it in freehubs and for loose ball pedals and hubs and get years out of them. It lasts longer then white lithium, in my opinion.

Pros: Works for anything. Tubes of the stuff seem to last for years.

Cons: Not the cheapest. Probably not very enviromentally friendly.

You can't go wrong with Phil grease. This stuff is one of the 'standards' on any mechanics bench. I use it on every bike I build.

Works well for me, I have no complaints except for the fact that it is slightly pricey.

Pros: Works great. Tube is convenient.

Cons: Slightly pricey.

quality grease

I use this grease for my BB cup threads as well as for installing my cranks.

Provides good lube and helps keep water out.

When I run out, I always buy more Phil Wood grease.

Pros: - good waterproof grease that keeps contaminates out.

Cons: - a little pricey for grease

Excellent grease, particularly for packing traditional loose-ball/caged bearing headsets, bottom brackets, and hubs. Downside: the tube doesn't fit my grease gun.

I got turned on to Phil Grease about 4 or 5 years ago. I now use it for every application requiring grease. I know the package says "for ball and roller bearings", but I find myself using it to lube seatpots, headsets, steel bolts, and more.

Once you try Phil's, you won't go back.

Pros: A tube lasts a LONG time.

Cons: There are cheaper greases out there, but they're not as good.

Slick!

Rebuilt the rear hub and used phils to lube the bearings. Easy to work with and came recommended.

Pros: good value for the price, small enough to pack in toolbox

Cons: the threaded top did not fit my finish line hand held lube gun.

I use this on all my bikes. It doesn't breakdown, lasts much longer than other greases, and works very well on bearings. Especially good for the wet northwest winters. It is more expensive and probably a repackaged marine grease, but this just works and that's what I need.

Pros: Waterproof, High Performance

Cons: Expensive

best grease

I use this stuff everywhere and does great in bearings, it has the perfect viscosity for being thick enough but still thin enough to keep bearings spinning freely and efficiently.

Pros: great for bearings especial if you live in nasty wet places like portland

Cons: a little expensive, so just use it on bearings.
