This my third X-9SL. I keep 2 chains and rotate them out. Finally wore one out but took over a thousand miles. Never had problem, these ma be light but they are stong and reliable! Pros: Strong, light, comes with the quick link Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: December 06, 2012 Reviewed by: Martin., California Was this review Helpful? Worth the money, my favorite chains. Perfect shits with either SRAM or Shimano cassettes, last a long time.
Super easy to install with the missing link.
Cost more than some, but they don't break like SRAM chains. Pros: Durable, light, perfect performance, great looks. Cons: Expensive. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 07, 2012 Reviewed by: Matt K., Pennsylvania Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
I'm using it with sram and this is my second one. The first one i used for over 2 years. Pros: Lightweight, pretty strong chain, gold Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 25, 2012 Reviewed by: Tiago K., Florida Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
This chain is LIGHT! Throw in that its stronger than most chains, and it is my go to chain from now on. Pros: Strong, Light Cons: price Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: June 09, 2012 Reviewed by: Brandon P., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
KMC X-9SL Superlight Chain I race xc and after trying Shimano and Srams best I tried this KMC chain. This is the best and lighties chain I have ever used. Pros: Very light, shifts very well. Cons: Must lube often. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: January 12, 2012 Reviewed by: terry g., California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
light build for sure can feel the difference between there 9.99 chain.i tend to be hard on chains and have this set up on my xc bike would recomend for xc racing and xc trail Pros: light and comes in gold Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 09, 2011 Reviewed by: scott m., California Was this review Helpful? Lightweight Chain This is the lightest chain I have found, perfect for weight weenies. It does require repeated cleaning to keep lube and dirt from building up in all the holes which can defeat the lightweight aspect. I have had two of these fail on the trail. Pros: Lightweight Cons: Expensive and difficult to keep clean. Not as durable as SRAM or Shimano Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 16, 2011 Reviewed by: LT, California Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
A viable alternative to Shimano Works fine, is lighter and cheaper (than Shimano).
Quicklink is especially nice when you want to simply take the chain off. Pros: Price, quality. These are the only chains I buy anymore. Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 09, 2011 Reviewed by: cam o., Alberta Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Hollow pins and plates! Make for a light chain if you really care about weight. Comes in blingy gold if you're vain. The included quick link make for easy installation. Pros: quick link included, light weight, gold! Cons: pricey for a chain Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 02, 2011 Reviewed by: Ranier D., Armed Forces Europe, Middle East, Africa, Canada Was this review Helpful? Chain is very light and have not experienced and shifting degradation. Seems to be wearing well. Missing link connection makes installation super easy. I would buy a couple extra missing links so you have them when you need them Pros: super light. Wears good and shifts good. Cons: kinda expensive, but not really compared to xtr/ hollow pin sram Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: July 10, 2011 Reviewed by: andrew t., Texas Was this review Helpful? I use three of these chains linked together on my recumbent trike. Immediately noticed a smoother chain-line and crisper shifting. A bit more of a hassle to clean but not a big deal considering. A great chain! Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: June 17, 2011 Reviewed by: Robert H., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate

Lightweight, smooth shifting Using on both Shimano and SRAM drivetrains. Shifts smoothly and durable enough for trail/AM use. Pros: Very light weight
Good price to performance ratio
High bling factor

I have used this chain on 2 different bikes and had great success. I have tried many chains, and this chain is at the top of my heap. Its light, not too expensive for its weight and always worked. It lasted longer them my Dura Ace chain, but not as long as a hollow pin Sram chain I tried. But this chain cost less. I haven't tried the gold version which is supposed to last longer. I used this on a Shimano drivetrain. Pros: Light, affordable for an SL chain, and never had any problems. Cons: Didn't last as long as my Sram Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: December 01, 2010 Reviewed by: Brian K., Oregon Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Light and strong One of the lightest chains available. Service life isn`t the longest but that comes with the minimalist design. Pros: Very Light. Cons: KMC powerlink almost impossible to separate by hand. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: November 01, 2010 Reviewed by: collin b., Washington Was this review Helpful? Great lightweight chain! I have several of these chains installed on various bikes, and have run the 9 speed chain with an 8 speed setup with no issues. This is the lightest chain I've used and I've had zero problems with it. Pros: - durable - I've never broken one
- comes with a split link - no need for those lame Shimano chain pins
- easy to remove and clean
- haven't yet notices any stretching Cons: - not sure why KMC even bothers with the gold colored chains Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: October 14, 2010 Reviewed by: Doug B., Virginia Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
Simply the pimpest, lightest and most reliable 9 speed chain that one can buy. Also best ratio of price to performance to longevity. Pros: Lighter, stronger, lasts longer than the other brands Cons: Quite pricy for a chain but no more than SRAM XO or Shimano XTR equivalent. I've had no problems using this on my DH bike. It's lightweight and the best part is it's gold and doesnt look like everyone elses bike rusted chain. I've used all kinds of SRAM chains and so far I've been very happy with this one.
