Park Tool FR-5GC Lockring Remover This iteration of Park's FR-5 Lockring Remover includes a center guide pin. It replaces (for me) the earlier FR-5 model with the center hole and seemingly shorter splines. Pros: Center guide pin
Ample spline area should prove durable Cons: None Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: April 01, 2013 Reviewed by: Dan B., Maine Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate

Good tool It's pretty simple. It removes lockrings for cassettes and some smaller disc rotors with centerlock. It doesn't deform over time unless you do something stupid. It's easy to use and will last you a lifetime.
I wouldn't buy it again only because I won't ever need to! Pros: Effective, reliable and durable Cons: None Would Buy Again: No Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: September 09, 2012 Reviewed by: Erik K., Colorado Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
You need this! If you dont own one of these, there is something wrong. Get it and dont look back.
Is bomb proof and works time after time.
Never had a problem using this to remove a cassette. Pros: Does exactly what you need it to do.
Solid - wont need to buy another Cons: none. Would Buy Again: Yes Would Recommend: Yes Reviewed on: August 02, 2012 Reviewed by: Adam T. Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate
The guide pin is a nice feature. This is replacing my older "Shimano style" lockring remover that had very shallow grooves. It was hard for the grooves to get a good bite on the splines and would always slip off. Good tool This is well made and works fine. I would much prefer it had a metric-sized nut on it though. Who has imperial sockets these days?! It means I have to use an adjustable wrench on it. Pros: Quality Cons: Imperial nut. Reviewed on: March 25, 2012 Reviewed by: Patrick, Oz Was this review Helpful? Yes No Report as Inappropriate

Must Have!! This is a must have tool is you do more maintenance than just airing up your tires and lubing a chain. The spindle that goes thru the axle really helps keep the lockring remover from falling/popping off. essential tool a 'must have' in your mnt. bike tool kit. combined with a chain whip, it's all you need to remove and replace your cassette in seconds. and, purchase a 1" socket at a hardware store and use it with this to get the proper newton meters with a torque wrench. I have busted two other lockring removers, but neither of them had the center spindle. Hopefully that will even out the stress points and prevent the tool from cracking on me.
