About average

I am using this on a flat bar commuter with an Alfine 8 hub.
It works well. The downshifts (into lower gears) involving a "forward" roll of the shifter feel hollw and springy - not as solid feeling as SRAM twist shifters I've used. Still, he indexing is fine, and the barrel adjuster is very nice to have for dialing in the 4th gear base setting.
The barrel is a bit wider than I'd like, and it occupies more space on my bar than I'd like, and forces the brake lever too far inwards.

Pros: Adjuster barrel, indexes well,

Cons: Feels a little flimsy, too wide.

Works.

This review is for the axle part of this setup. You need it for your Nexus shifting needs. I have two of these, one on my commuter and one on my mountain bike. Commuter OK, I need to use it. But the mountain bike I question the durability of it. First, it sticks out like a derailleur from the axle nut and is prone to taking hits--especially if you lay the bike down on that side. Second, it's made out of plastic. Metal good, plastic bad.

I've dropped the mountain bike once on that side and it's gouged pretty ugly. I hope Shimano makes something sturdier.

Pros: Simple.

Cons: Not that durable for mountain biking

Looks nice

I haven't used this yet. I couldn't find a good way to mount this on my Titec H-bar so I went with the trigger shifter instead.

Pros: Smooth index action.
